Background of Service Development

Docuest was developed in response to challenges that Gekkado Inc. encountered while operating multiple web services.

At Gekkado, we operate multiple projects in parallel and needed a way to separate API keys and administrators for each project, while clearly tracking usage on a per-project basis. However, existing PDF generation services did not provide sufficient management features designed for multi-project environments.

In addition to generating PDFs, automatically uploading the generated files to cloud storage such as Amazon S3 was an essential requirement for real-world operation. Without this capability, PDFs would need to be downloaded and uploaded individually, resulting in significant time and network costs, especially for systems that generate large volumes of PDFs.

Another challenge was the lack of services offering a seamless pricing model that automatically scales based on the number of PDFs generated. Many services require plan changes as usage increases, making it difficult to maintain stable costs. A solution was needed that would allow continuous use without sudden or unpredictable cost fluctuations, even as demand grows.

To address these challenges, Docuest was developed as a PDF generation platform designed based on our own operational experience.
